I am Raquiba Sultana, a Faculty at Meiji Gakuin University, Yokohama, Japan and The University of Electro-Communications in Tokyo, Japan. I was honored to be selected as a Fellow of APAN59 Conference, held from 3rd to 7th March 2025, Yokohama, Japan. The event brought together a diverse group of researchers, educators, and technologists from across the Asia-Pacific region and beyond. As a fellow, I participated in various working group sessions, workshops, training activities, and exhibitions, covering topics such as IPv6 & 5G, Internet of Things (IoT), disaster mitigation, and NREN sessions.
I was particularly enjoyed the Agricultural Working Group session, which focused on how advanced networking and digital technologies can be applied to the agriculture sector. The session discussed innovative solutions for smart farming, data-driven agriculture, and how networking infrastructure can support sustainable practices and food security in the region. It was a great opportunity to learn about the intersection of agriculture and technology.
Another remarkable part was AP-GAINED workshop on Generative AI. I found this session particularly fascinating as it explored the transformative potential of Generative AI in various sectors. The workshop covered the latest trends, practical applications, challenges in deploying generative AI tools in research and education. It was an engaging experience, where we were given group task and present infront of the audience. I was excited to see how AI can drive innovation in my field and beyond.
Outside of the conference, Yokohama City itself was a true highlight of the trip. The city’s stunning skyline, waterfront, and the whole atmosphere made the trip more beautiful. I enjoyed walking through the city’s beautiful parks, visiting the iconic Minato Mirai district, and soaking in the scenic views along the Yokohama Bay.
The opening and closing ceremony dinners were also memorable. The authority successfully arranged a warm and welcoming atmosphere to connect with fellows and other participants. The delicious variety of food, especially japanese food, made the event more beautiful. Overall, we had a relaxed environment for meaningful networking and cultural exchange.
Overall, my participation in APAN59 significantly enhanced my technical knowledge. I was also able to expand my professional network and strengthen global research and education networks. I look forward to contribute further to the APAN community in near future.
