I first learned about the APAN Fellowship Program from my mentor, who encouraged me to apply. At that time, I didn’t know much about APAN itself, but I was excited by the chance to explore an international conference. When I was selected as a fellow for APAN60, I felt both surprised and grateful, and I knew this would be a meaningful opportunity for me as an undergraduate student.
Learning and connecting
Throughout the week, I was exposed to many new technologies and ideas that really broadened my horizons. It was not just about technical content, I also had the chance to meet new friends from different countries and learn more about their cultures, experiences, and research interests.
Security Working Group
One of the most memorable sessions for me was the Security Working Group. I learned about the latest threat actor exploitation methods and, more importantly, saw how companies and institutions openly discussed their security challenges and shared possible solutions. This collaborative exchange gave me a deeper understanding of how cybersecurity issues are tackled in practice.
HPC/AI Working Group
I also joined the HPC/AI Working Group, where researchers presented how AI is being used to improve technology and shared some of their current work. It was inspiring to see how AI is applied in real research and how these innovations can bring meaningful improvements to the future of technology.
Reflections
Looking back, APAN60 has been an eye-opening experience for me. I have gained not only new technical knowledge but also valuable friendships and a deeper appreciation for international collaboration. I am truly thankful to APAN for this fellowship opportunity, and I hope to join future APAN meetings with more contributions to share.
