Participation in the APAN61 International Conference Representing Mongolia
Delegate: Byambasarnai Lkhagvaa ERDEMNET (Mongolia)

Representing Mongolia, we successfully participated in the APAN61 (Asia-Pacific Advanced Network) international conference held from January 26 to 30, 2026, at the Le Méridien Hotel in Dhaka, Bangladesh.

The APAN61 conference was organized at a high professional level by the Bangladesh Research and Education Network (BdREN). The efficient and well-coordinated logistics support—including visa arrangements, airport reception, return transportation, and security—had a positive impact on the overall quality of the event.

Within the framework of the conference, the opening ceremony, training sessions, receptions, and closing events were conducted at a highly professional standard. Participants were able to use the ORBIT application to review the program, select sessions of interest, and create a personalized schedule. In addition, the training sessions were made accessible not only to on-site participants but also to international online attendees, significantly increasing the inclusiveness and reach of the event.

The training sessions and lectures were led by experienced researchers and emerging leaders, who shared not only theoretical knowledge but also real-world case studies, experimental results, and practical experience, which was a key highlight of the conference.

The main objective of participating in the APAN61 conference was to gain exposure to international best practices in networking, information security, and digital infrastructure for higher education institutions, as well as to enhance professional knowledge and skills. In this context, we participated in training sessions focused on new trends and practical approaches in network and information security, and established opportunities to expand communication and collaboration with regional and international organizations.

As a result of the conference:

Acquired foundational and advanced knowledge of methodologies for identifying and assessing vulnerabilities in network and web security

Gained hands-on experience in implementing security solutions through practical, real-world training sessions

Became familiar with international best practices for improving the security of digital campuses in higher education institutions

Exchanged information with APAN member organizations and laid the groundwork for future cooperation

Furthermore, we became motivated to actively participate in the APAN Education Working Group and to introduce global best practices into Mongolia’s education sector.

Participation in the APAN61 conference enabled us to bring back valuable experience and knowledge that will contribute significantly to the international development of Mongolia’s education, research, and network infrastructure, as well as to strengthening the capacity of professionals in this field.
